On EARTH DAY, Wednesday, April 22, we are hosting a virtual fundraiser called “Designing Resilient Communities”.
Our intention is to reconnect with all of you, highlight solutions from leaders in our community, and raise money to support families in our local area of San Mateo/Orotina who are struggling financially during this time.
How can we redesign our lifestyles to be REGENERATIVE? What is most important as we step into a new chapter of human life on Earth?

Alegría Impact:
As with everywhere, we are shut down here in Costa Rica and are quarantining in place. This means that at Alegría, we have stopped events, dinners and tours, and cut back our on-site team per government protocols. As a result, the incredible people and vendors who make our events happen are out of work - as are many residents of San Mateo who made their livelihoods in houses, gardens, schools, restaurants and businesses that are now closed.
People Care is one of our core founding values at Alegría Village - and our people need us now.
This is an opportunity for all of us to come together as neighbors to serve in a time of crisis. And an opportunity to come together in JOY and share love and inspiration with each other.

If you feel called to join us, please donate below at the amount that feels right. Depending on how much we raise, we will be giving grants to particularly vulnerable families in our local community - and supporting them to set up small businesses that can provide a steady source of income over the coming months. Anything will help them get through this, seriously. We have already built additional garden beds in our Alegría farm to increase food production so that our workers can harvest for themselves and to sell.
